Recognizing Our Invaluable Volunteers

Featured Volunteer of the Week

Meet Andy Perr! She has been a vital part of our Chapter for more than 7 years. She is involved in numerous Chapter events and carries out our mission by working in Western Washington communities to help provide support for those living with ALS.

This is what Andy has to say about her inspiration for volunteering. "Since losing my brother to ALS I have not gone back to regular employment.  Rather, I have chosen to volunteer.  I volunteer for a number of things, one of them being the ALS Association Evergreen Chapter.  I have many interests and concerns but my first priority is the ALS Association.

Recently I was thinking about why I volunteer for ALSA and how this experience is different from my other volunteer jobs.  I volunteer at ALSA because I am appreciated.  I know when I show up at the office I will be treated with respect; my time is valued as is my experience with ALS and working for the chapter.  I’ve been volunteering for eight years.  I can’t say that about any other paid or unpaid job I have had.  We have a shared commitment to each other and that’s why the relationship works.”

Andy, thank you so much for your tireless efforts in working to create a world without ALS!
